Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar, a British American singer and musician, is most well-known for her music. She was the first and the first woman to be awarded a British House of Commons Shield she's had Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian of Indian descent to perform live and to be a presenter for the ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is among the rising stars of India's sitar. She is the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. In her first years she split between London New Delhi. The first time she performed was on stage in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. She then moved to Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, but she has a very remarkable career in the field of singing and recording. Her father has accompanied her to numerous performances over some time. The year 1998 saw her released Anourag as her debut album as a solo artist. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. As she's appeared on many of the biggest stages around across the globe, she's career on stage has been extensive. Anoushka isn't only a singer. She also published Bapi The Love of My Life in the year 2002. This is a picture biography that pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as an Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's professional career is continuing to develop and we're likely to see a lot from her in years to come. Anoushka Shankar is an English native who lived her early years between London, Delhi and California. At the age of 9 She began studying music with her father. The first time she performed on the sitar came at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of experience touring the world together with her dad. She appeared in Carnegie Hall in her teenage time, and also recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament for her musicianship and talent as an outstanding musician from music in Asian Arts.
